Non-homogeneous boundary value problems for the Korteweg–de Vries and the Korteweg–de Vries–Burgers equations in a quarter plane
The present paper describes mobile carrier transport in semiconductor devices with constant densities of ionized impurities. For this purpose we use one-dimensional partial differential equations. The work gives the proofs of global existence of solutions of systems of such kind, their bifurcations and their stability under the corresponding assumptions.
The paper deals with boundary value problems for systems of nonlinear elliptic equations in a relatively general form. Theorems based on monotone operator theory and concerning the existence of weak solutions of such a system, as well as the convergence of discretized problem solutions are presented. As an example, the approach is applied to the stationary Van Roosbroeck’s system, arising in semiconductor device modelling. A convergent algorithm suitable for solving sets of algebraic equations generated...
We consider supersonic compressible vortex sheets for the isentropic Euler equations of gas dynamics in two space dimensions. The problem is a free boundary nonlinear hyperbolic problem with two main difficulties: the free boundary is characteristic, and the so-called Lopatinskii condition holds only in a weak sense, which yields losses of derivatives. Nevertheless, we prove the local existence of such piecewise smooth solutions to the Euler equations. Since the a priori estimates for the linearized...
The paper is devoted to the solvability of a nonlinear elliptic problem in a plane multiply connected domain. On the inner components of its boundary Dirichlet conditions are known up to additive constants which have to be determined together with the sought solution so that the so-called trailing stagnation conditions are satisfied. The results have applications in the stream function solution of subsonic flows past groups of profiles or cascades of profiles.
New Q-conditional symmetries for a class of reaction-diffusion-convection equations with exponential diffusivities are derived. It is shown that the known results for reaction-diffusion equations with exponential diffusivities follow as particular cases from those obtained here but not vice versa. The symmetries obtained are applied to construct exact solutions of the relevant nonlinear equations. An application of exact solutions to solving a boundary-value problem with constant Dirichlet conditions...
In this paper, we study the stabilization of a two-dimensional Burgers equation around a stationary solution by a nonlinear feedback boundary control. We are interested in Dirichlet and Neumann boundary controls. In the literature, it has already been shown that a linear control law, determined by stabilizing the linearized equation, locally stabilizes the two-dimensional Burgers equation. In this paper, we define a nonlinear control law which also provides a local exponential stabilization of...
For the nonlinear heat equation with a fractional Laplacian , 1 < α ≤ 2, the first initial-boundary value problem in a disk is considered. Small initial conditions, homogeneous boundary conditions, and periodicity conditions in the angular coordinate are imposed. Existence and uniqueness of a global-in-time solution is proved, and the solution is constructed in the form of a series of eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator in the disk. First-order long-time asymptotics of the solution is obtained....
In this paper, we present a nonlinear model for laser-plasma interaction describing the Raman amplification. This system is a quasilinear coupling of several Zakharov systems. We handle the Cauchy problem and we give some well-posedness and ill-posedness result for some subsystems.
We prove two new results about the Cauchy problem in the energy space for nonlinear Schrödinger equations on four-dimensional compact manifolds. The first one concerns global well-posedness for Hartree-type nonlinearities and includes approximations of cubic NLS on the sphere as a particular case. The second one provides, in the case of zonal data on the sphere, local well-posedness for quadratic nonlinearities as well as a necessary and sufficient condition of global well-posedness for small energy...
